Visiting artist Nancy Judd, of Recycle Runway, creates couture fashion sculptures made from trash to stimulate conversation, action and education about how we live on the planet. For this unique and fun workshop that combines art, fashion and eco-consciousness, she will lead participants in creating beautiful and fun hats from waste materials collected in our community. This workshop is intended for adults and children 10 and up. $25 for members, $30 for non-members and includes lunch.
EMMY winning film on Louis Armstrong’s daughter comes to Alexandria!
Louis Armstrong's secret daughter reveals a new side of the music and cultural icon's personal life in the acclaimed PBS film Little Satchmo, winner of the Southeast EMMY Award for Outstanding Historical Documentary, which comes to the Hearn Stage at the Kress Theatre on Monday, November 6th at 7:00 PM!
The film will be followed by a Q&A with the Emmy-winning team behind the film, director John Alexander and producer JC Guest.
Internationally award-winning artist Eric Hess of Sanctuary Arts School in Shreveport brings his new project titled Metamorphosis to AMoA starting in November. You will not want to miss this collection of 17 works of art created by eco-conscious artists from around Louisiana who create art from usually discarded materials including wood, metal, glass, plastic, paper, and found objects. $5.00 Admission to the museum.

"Palette Party Awards Ceremony and Art Sale at AMoA
The culminating event for the Farm to Forest Plein Air Festival is a celebration of our visiting artists and a testament to the natural beauty of Central Louisiana. Attendees can view completed works, chat with the artists, and add to their art collection. The juror will present winners and purchase awards will be announced by sponsoring organizations. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to view the results of our third annual festival! "
This adult workshop will focus on learning how to draw the human figure including capturing gesture, form, shading and technique. Instruction will include warm-up exercises, short and long pose compositions with a live model. All supplies are included. Registration is required. This is a FULL DAY workshop. With inspiration of Francis Pavy from the AMoA Permanent Collection, this workshop will guide participants through the Lino print process, including planning, execution and layering with color, to complete a series of limited edition prints!
