PROCEEDINGS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD JUNE 1, 2010.
The Council of the City of Alexandria, Louisiana, met in special meeting session at its regular meeting place, on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers.
There were present the Honorable Roosevelt L. Johnson, Chuck Fowler, Jonathan D. Goins, Everett C. Hobbs and Harry B. Silver. Absent were Ed Larvadain and Myron K. Lawson. Also present were Assistant City Attorney Trey Gist and City Clerk Nancy L. Thiels.
The Council of the City of Alexandria, State of Louisiana, was duly convened as the governing authority of said City by the Honorable Roosevelt L. Johnson, who stated that the Council was ready for the transaction of business. The following items were on the agenda:
EXECUTIVE SESSION TO BE HELD PURSUANT TO R.S. 42:6.1 (A)(2) ON THE FOLLOWING ITEM:
1) To hear from the City Attorney regarding ancillary claims, third-party claims, consequential issues or disputes by any expert, attorney, or consultant arising out of the City’s settlement of “City of Alexandria v. Cleco Corporation, Et Al,” docket #CV 05-1121-A, Western District of Louisiana;
2) To hear from the City Attorney regarding the status of Armested Franklin, Et Al. vs. City of Alexandria, docket# 1:07-CV-01011, Western District of Louisiana. Said discussion will be limited to matters within the scope of the attorney/client privilege. Any other discussion, particularly public statements of counsel for the Franklin plaintiff’s shall be held in open session.
It was moved by Mr. Fowler and seconded by Mr. Goins to go into executive session. The following vote was taken and resulted as follows:
YEAS: Fowler, Goins, Hobbs, Johnson, Silver.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Larvadain and Lawson.
The meeting was adjourned.
The meeting was called back to order by Councilman Johnson with a motion made by Mr. Fowler and seconded by Mr. Hobbs to come out of executive session. The following vote was taken and resulted as follows:
YEAS: Fowler, Larvadain, Goins, Lawson, Hobbs, Johnson, Silver.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: None.There was no action taken, therefore, there being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned.
