CHOOSE YOUR PET - You can view our online database
to see a few of our pets that are available for adoption or, if
you don't find what you are looking for, you can come and visit
the shelter to view all our animals that are available for adoption.
• ADOPTION APPLICATION AND FEE - After selecting
your pet, you will fill out an adoption application and pay the
adoption fee. The fees for Dogs are Male $64, Female $75, the fees
for Cats are Male $50, Female $55. The adoption fee covers an Examination
by the Veterenarian, the first set of shots and sterilization.
• TAKE IT HOME - Once you pay the fee, you
can bring your pet home the same day.

Only
citizens living inside the Rapides Parish and Alexandria City Limits
are allowed to bring animals to the Alexandria Animal Shelter.

Shelter or a Humane Society in your area.

animal control ordinance is a list of laws that all pets and their
owners must abide by if they are in the city of Alexandria. The
Ordinance does apply to cats.

YES!
If you know of a situation where a dog is being abused or not taken
care of properly, then it needs to be reported. We have an anonymous
email complaint button on the home page and you can click on and
to send us an anonymous email to let us know about the animal in
need. You do not have to give your name, or any information about
yourself. You will remain anonymous. We simply need to know the
address or general location of where to pick up the pet, and the
complaint that you have.
