non-formal, research based, experiential education activities,
4-H participants gain knowledge and life skills enabling
them to become positive, productive, capable and compassionate
members of their communities. The parish 4-H Office is
the youth-centered educational branch of the La. Cooperative
Extension Service/LSU Ag Center.
Programs Offered:
Organized 4-H Clubs through each school serving grades
4 to 12; parishwide program offers educational classes,
camps, & competitions for enrolled 4-H club members.
In addition, the 4-H Youth Development program coordinates
the character education curriculum for each school in
Rapides parish (through the school counselor); Also
offer youth leadership development as well as adult
volunteer development opportunities.

All girls in PK all the way through High School can join in the fun and excitement of girl scouting. Age specific programs ensure that girls are challenged on their individual level. Leadership, community service, education, and self-esteem are all typical issues tackled by the Girl Scout program. A wide variety of topics await you in girl scouting, whatever your interests are.
All groups are led and supported by volunteers. Any adult, male or female, can volunteer to help girl scouts in their area. Volunteers are given training specific to their duties and ongoing support from council staff and other volunteers. Call now to make a difference in the life of a girl today!

The Links, Inc. is an organization of
women with over 270 chapters in 40 states, the District
of Columbia, the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and Frankfurt,
Germany. There are over 10,000 charter members. The
organization is commiteed to educational, cultural,
and civic activities. An international program for educational
activities provides enrichment experiences for black
talented youth who are educationally disadvantaged and
culturally deprived, schools in Africa and assistance
for talented children who need aid.

1. Links to Success: Children to Excellence - A school
readiness/academic achievement program designed to meet
a range of needs of the pre-school and elementary school
child. 2. Services to Youth - Program involved in efforts
to eliminate the problems of black youth and their families
that result from teenage pregnancy, juvenile crime and
delinquency, alcohol and substance abuse, mental and
emotional illness/disorders, break down of the family,
unemployment and education.
