This is the committee meetings schedule that will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in the City Council Chambers. All Council committee meetings shall begin at 3:00p.m. unless otherwise designated.
Governmental Affairs Committee Meeting at 3:00p.m.
- To hear a report from John Miller concerning reapportionment.
Finance Committee Meeting at 3:30p.m. or immediately following
- To consider final adoption of an ordinance authorizing the Mayor to accept the low bid submitted for purchasing Warehouse/HVAC project.
- To consider final adoption of an ordinance authorizing the Mayor to accept the low bid submitted for Recreation Operations building.
- To consider final adoption of an ordinance authorizing the re-scoping of an existing contract with Frederick Swartz for the North MacArthur Drive traffic softening project to include all of MacArthur Drive (LA 1 overpass to Sugarhouse Road intersection).
- Resolution declaring the intention of the City Council of the City of Alexandria, State of Louisiana, acting as the governing authority of the City of Alexandria, State of Louisiana (the “City”), to issue Utilities Revenue Bonds of the City, in one or more series, in an amount not to exceed Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000) for the purpose of paying the cost of constructing, acquiring, extending and/or improving the water portion of the combined electric power and light plant and system, waterworks plant and system, natural gas system and sewer system; generally describing said Bonds and the security therefore; authorizing the publication of a notice of such intention setting forth a date and time when said governing authority will meet in open and public session to hear any objections to the proposed issuance of said Bonds; providing for the filing of a petition by a certain percentage of the electors of the City objecting to the issuance of the proposed Bonds unless an election is held on the question of the issuance thereof; making a declaration of official intent under U.S. Treasury Reg. 1.1502 and providing for other matters in connection therewith.
- To consider final adoption of an ordinance amending 2011/2012 capital budget for the Building Improvements project.
Public Works/Zoning Committee at 4:00 p.m. or immediately following
- To hear an update from the Administration on fast track projects.
- To hear a report from the Administration concerning school crossing guards.
Economic Development Committee Meeting at 4:30 p.m. or immediately following
- To hear a report from Debra Randolph concerning Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce.
- To hear a report from a cerebral palsy representative.
- To hear a report from the Administration on the following questions concerning SPARC:
a) What projects have been completed, what district was each in, and what did it cost?
b) How much SPARC designated money is left?
c) With the $25MM bond what projects have been completed, in what district and cost of each?
d) How much of the $25MM bond amount left?
e) What projects are left to be done with what’s left of the $25MM bond, in what district are they and cost of each?
f) With the $15MM bond what projects have been completed, in what district and cost of each?
g) How much of the $15MM bond amount is left?
h) What projects are left to be done with what’s left of the $15MM bond, in what district are they and cost of each?
i) How much of the $16MM municipal capital outlay committed to SPARC has been spent?
j) With the amount left of the $16MM capital outlay money, what projects are planned, in what district is each, and cost of each?
k) What penalties would the City incur if the SPARC monies are not spent within the time line?
Please have your staff note the change in format for the committee meetings done in compliance with R. S. 42.7. The Council has directed that the City Clerk may advise the public scheduling regarding committee meetings. It is always that the intention of the council to convene committee meetings at the conclusion of the prior committee meeting unless the chairman of the meeting may indicate otherwise for the convenience of the public. Have appropriate members from your Administration present for discussion.
