Council Meeting Minutes (Special Session) - 2012-05-29

PROCEEDINGS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD MAY 29, 2012.

The Council of the City of Alexandria, Louisiana, met in special meeting session at its regular meeting place, on Tuesday, May 29, 2011 at 3:30 P.M. in the City Council Chambers.

There were present the Honorable Roosevelt L. Johnson, Chuck Fowler, Harry B. Silver, Jerry Jones and Jim Villard.  Absent were Ed Larvadain, III and Mitzi Gibson.  Also present was City Clerk Nancy L. Thiels and City Attorney Chuck Johnson.

The Council of the City of Alexandria, State of Louisiana, was duly convened as the governing authority of said City by the Honorable Harry B. Silver, who stated that the Council was ready for the transaction of business. 

EXECUTIVE SESSION TO BE HELD PURSUANT TO R.S. 42:6.1 (A)(2) ON THE FOLLOWING ITEM:

        The item on the agenda was to hear from the City Attorney concerning status of the Armested Franklin, et al vs. City of Alexandria, Civil Suit Action No. 07-1011, United States District Court, Western District of Louisiana.

        It was moved by Mr. Fowler and seconded by Mr. Jones to go into executive session.  The following vote was taken and resulted as follows:

YEAS:         Fowler, Silver, Gibson, Villard, Johnson, Jones.

NAYS: None.

ABSENT:     Larvadain.

        The meeting was called back to order with a motion made by Ms. Gibson and seconded by Mr. Villard to come out of executive session.  The following vote was taken and resulted as follows:

YEAS:         Gibson, Villard, Johnson, Larvadain, Jones, Fowler, Silver.

NAYS: None.

ABSENT:     None.

        There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned.
