Repairs Completed on 16” Water Main Leak on Applewhite Street

Alexandria, La. (April 6, 2023) —Alexandria Utility System (“AUS”) Water Department crews successfully repaired and returned to service the 16” water main along Applewhite St. about 12:30 AM this morning.  The areas bounded by Broadway Ave., Applewhite St., and Bogan St. remain under a boil advisory at this time.

Due to increased water production to compensate for water lost to the leak, AUS crews began flushing main lines at daylight this morning to eliminate discolored water.  Customers who are still experiencing discolored water are requested to report their complaints via the AlexConnects app or to the Water Dept. at 318-473-1264.  The discoloration currently being experienced is an aesthetic issue and not an indication of contamination or other unsafe qualities.
