Local Travel is Hazardous Due to Freezing Rain and Sleet
All City Offices and Facilities Will Be CLOSED Tuesday, January 16, 2024
Alexandria, La. (January 15, 2024) — The freezing rain and sleet which moved into the area this afternoon has quickly made travel on local roadways, especially elevated roads and bridges, extremely hazardous with some State Routes such as I-49 and the Jackson St. Bridge already being closed. Residents are advised to stay off roads until conditions improve, possibly late in the day tomorrow. All City offices and facilities will be closed tomorrow; ATRANS bus service will be suspended for the day tomorrow as well. Utility disconnects for past due accounts will remain suspended until Thursday morning.
