The Alexandria Fire Department responded to a fire at Bolton Academy (Bolton High School).
At approximately 9:06 AM, the Alexandria Fire Department was dispatched to 2101 Vance Avenue in response to a fire in a classroom. Firefighters arrived within two minutes; upon arrival, they discovered that an electronic device was burning. The fire was extinguished and the device was removed from the school. School officials evacuated the students from the building at the time of the incident. There were no injuries or damage to the school building.
AFD dispatched three engine companies, an aerial company, a medical unit, a chief unit, and a fire investigator to the scene. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical failure within the electronic device and was classified as accidental.
