Dear Mayor:

        This is the committee meetings schedule that will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in the City Council Chambers.  All Council committee meetings shall begin at 2:00pm unless otherwise designated.

 Governmental Affairs Committee at 2:00 p.m.

1. To hear an update concerning reapportionment.

Public Works/Zoning Committee at 2:15 p. m. or immediately following

1. To hear a report from the Administration concerning streets/sidewalks repairs for Wakefield Boulevard, Willowick Boulevard, Wimbledon Boulevard, Windermere Boulevard, Wellington Boulevard, and Welwyn Way.

Legal Committee Meeting at 2:30 p.m. or immediately following

1. To hear from the Administration concerning the enforcement of speeding of large trucks, professional transport vehicles and personal vehicles traveling in the Kopper Street Community.

Economic Development Committee Meeting at 3:00 p.m. or immediately following

1. To hear a report from a representative from the U.S. Postal Service New Orleans in regards to postal service in the Alexandria area.
2. To consider final adoption of an ordinance to protect all employees in all workplaces by prohibiting smoking in all enclosed public places of employment including but not limited to bars, gaming establishments, and certain outdoor areas within the City of Alexandria, to provide for related matters and to go into effect 90 days after passage.
3. To hear from the Administration on water projects in Council Districts 1 & 3.

Finance Committee Meeting at 4:00 p.m. or immediately following

1. To hear a report from the Administration concerning legal fees incurred in the Legal Division.
2. To hear a report from the Director of finance concerning the fiscal status of the City of Alexandria including sales tax revenues.
3. To hear a report from the Administration concerning the city indebtedness.
4. To hear a report from the Administration concerning pay raises for city employees.
5. To hear an update from the Administration concerning the Alexander Fulton Hotel.
6. To hear a report from the Administration concerning the financial status of the Alexander Fulton Hotel for the last six months.

A & E Selection Committee Meeting at 4:30 p. m. or immediately following

1. To consider final adoption of an ordinance authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Concordia LLC to develop a Comprehensive Development Strategy and Unified Development Code under the Alexandria Comprehensive Resiliency Program.

        Please have your staff note the change in format for the committee meetings done in compliance with R. S. 42.7.  The Council has directed that the City Clerk may advise the public scheduling regarding committee meetings.  It is always that the intention of the council to convene committee meetings at the conclusion of the prior committee meeting unless the chairman of the meeting may indicate otherwise for the convenience of the public.  Have appropriate members from your Administration present for discussion.
