Dear Mayor:
This is the committee meetings schedule that will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in the City Council Chambers. All Council Committee meetings shall begin at 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise designated.
Community Development Committee at 3:00 p.m.
- To hear from HDQ neighborhood Association to discuss the walking trail and park.
- To hear a presentation from Kara Edwards from the Tree House Children’s Museum.
Economic Development Committee meeting at 3:30 p.m.
- To hear a report concerning Breast Cancer Awareness.
- To consider final adoption of an ordinance rezoning property located between the 5700 and 6500 even side block range of 3rd Street (Hwy. 1 South), being a 46.6 acres in part of Lot 2 of Oakdale Plantation, as requested by LEWCO Enterprises, LLC represented herein by Lewis Lauve and Jameson Cole Finn, as members, from “AG”, Agricultural district to “MF-1” Multifamily (low density) district to allow for a single family and/or multifamily housing development.
- To consider final adoption of an ordinance rezoning property located at 7534 Coliseum Boulevard and a portion of the right of way of Coliseum Boulevard from approximately 235 feet east of the St. Andrews Drive to approximately 340 feet east of Cloverleaf Boulevard, as requested by the City of Alexandria’s Administrative Division, as applicant from “SF-2” Single Family moderate density district to “C-2” General Commercial district to allow for a restaurant and other permitted uses allowable in the “C-2” district.
- To consider final adoption of an ordinance rezoning property described as 14.69 acres +/- being a portion of a 19.44 acre tract +/- in part of Lots 33, 34, 35 & 44, Experiment Plantation lying between Highway 1 and the T & P Railroad (Northport Commercial & Industrial Park) as requested by Northport Properties Partnership, represented herein by Roger Kahao of Trilateral Development, as applicant from “I-1”, Light Industrial district to “MF-1”, Multifamily (low density) district to allow for duplexes.
- To hear from the Administration on water projects in Council District 1 & 3
Public Works/Zoning Committee Meeting at 4:00p.m. or immediately following
- To hear an update from the Administration on clean out of Chatlin Lake Canal.
- To hear a report from the Administration (maybe power point presentation) to discuss and outline the schedule for trash, green waste and large trash pickups in the city limits.
Finance Committee Meeting at 4:30 p.m. or immediately following
- To hear a report from the Administration concerning legal fees incurred in the Legal Division.
- To hear a report from the Administration concerning the fiscal status of the City of Alexandria including sales tax revenues.
- To hear a report from the Administration concerning the City indebtedness.
- To hear a report from the Administration concerning pay raises for city employees.
- To hear an update from the Administration concerning the Alexander Fulton Hotel.
- To hear a report from the Administration concerning the financial status of the Alexander Fulton Hotel for the last six months.
- To hear a report from the Administration concerning police overtime.
Please have your staff note the change in format for the committee meetings done in compliance with R. S. 42.7. The Council has directed that the City Clerk may advise the public scheduling regarding committee meetings. It is always that the intention of the council to convene committee meetings at the conclusion of the prior committee meeting unless the chairman of the meeting may indicate otherwise for the convenience of the public. Have appropriate members from your Administration present for discussion.
