City Experiences Numerous Outages Due to This Morning’s Severe Weather
Alexandria, La. (June 24, 2019)—The line of severe weather that passed through Alexandria early this morning caused a significant number of scattered outages throughout the City of Alexandria’s electric system. The majority of outages are the result of broken poles, downed tree limbs and downed wires. The hardest hit areas are in the vicinity of Horseshoe Drive, Prescott Road, Heyman Lane and Texas Avenue. “City and contractor crews are working throughout the city and will restore service as quickly and safely as possible,” explained Michael Marcotte, Alexandria Utility System Director.
Customers are asked to report outages online through the AlexConnects app. Downed wires, poles and other equipment should be reported to the Electric Distribution Department at (318) 473-1301. Residents are reminded to avoid downed lines as they may still be energized. Residents are also encouraged to exercise caution while driving as crews and equipment are clearing debris and making repairs along many roads throughout the city.
Marcotte said he expects all services will be restored today.
