Alexandria Coca-Cola Employees Make Holiday Donation
Alexandria, La. (Dec. 12, 2019) — Employees of the Alexandria Coca-Cola Bottling Company donated more than 400 school supplies Thursday to the Alexandria Teen and Youth Center.
“One of our core values is to give back to the community,” explained Mark Cowert, Sales Center Manager for the Alexandria Coca-Cola plant. “Over the past month our associates have collected more than 400 items for the Alexandria Teen and Youth Center. We think it’s very important to give back to the youth in Alexandria.”
The collected items, which include everything from school backpacks and notebooks to pencils, pens, glue, scissors and other school supplies, were in wrapped packages placed under a Christmas tree in the lobby of the Alexandria Coca-Cola plant on Coliseum Boulevard.
“The City of Alexandria is grateful to receive this gift of supplies,” said Thomas J. Nash Sr., interim director of Community Services. “These supplies are very much needed, and we will be happy to distribute them in our after school program.”
The City of Alexandria offers after-school programs for youth from age 4 through 8th grade at the Teen and Youth Center on Sylvester Street. “Education is critical to our young people, which is one of the reasons we have made offering after school programs a priority,” said Alexandria Mayor Jeffrey W. Hall. “We are so very grateful to our friends at Coca-Cola, and I would like to personally thank each of their associates for their generous donation. We are so blessed to have strong community partners, like Alexandria Coca-Cola, who understand the need to give back to the community. These supplies will be a great help to the students in our after school program.”
