Alexandria Community Services Director Resigns
Alexandria, La. (May 7, 2019)— Von Jennings, director of Community Services for the City of Alexandria, has resigned her position effective immediately following a social media incident last weekend. The offensive post attributed to Jennings’ Facebook account was not authorized by the City of Alexandria and in no way represents the views of the City Administration.
“I am deeply saddened by the incident,” said Alexandria Mayor Jeffery W. Hall. “There is no place in our community or my administration for that sort of divisive sentiment. We should all be focused on working together to do what is best for our community, and ‘Together Alexandria’ remains the cornerstone of my administration. As Mayor, I apologize on behalf of the City of Alexandria. We will learn from this and move forward together to build a stronger community that respects the rights and needs of all of our citizens.”
