THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA’S RESPONSE TO RECORD RAINFALL

Alexandria, Louisiana – Remember: this is a very significant weather event. When the volume of rain falls faster on hard surfaces that can be diverted away from or off of that surface, then water will collect and even rise until the rate of the rain drops. Places that have flooded in past significant rain events will see similar issues. We are monitoring and ensuring all pumps are in order. We started monitoring prior to today in anticipation of this weather event.

If you see debris collecting around catch basins, and if it is safe, remove that debris. If you see areas that have not flooded in the past collecting water in a unique way, contact the city immediately.

The Mayor authorized an all-hands program including unrestricted overtime to combat any threats we face.
