Main ATRANS Terminal Closes for AlexWinterFete
Alexandria, La. (Dec. 11, 2019) — ATRANS, the City of Alexandria’s public transit system, will close its main terminal on Second Street beginning Thursday, Dec. 12, through Saturday, Dec. 14, as streets will be closed for the City’s annual winter festival, AlexWinterFete, which begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec.12, in downtown Alexandria.
Buses will still run, but the main terminal will operate from the Bolton Avenue Community Center.
The main terminal on Second Street will reopen for regular business on Monday, Dec. 16.
“We hope this doesn’t cause too much inconvenience, but for everyone’s safety this change of venue for the bus terminal is a must,” said Alexandria Mayor Jeff W. Hall. “But I want to invite everyone to come downtown for our winter festivities Dec. 12-15 at AlexWinter Fete.
“There will be lots to see and do. Food, fun, live music, fireworks, ice skating, Jolly Junction for the kids, Indie Village, the Ugly Sweater Run, Silent Disco, Adopt a Fete Pet, a Gumbo Cookoff, hundreds of vendors for your holiday shopping and the Alexandria Christmas Parade to close out the festival on Sunday.”
Don’t miss it!
