Press Release – Westgate Shopping Center Fire
The Alexandria Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at the Westgate Shopping Center.
At approximately 12:32 PM, the Alexandria Fire Department was dispatched to 223 MacArthur Drive in response to smoke emitting from a vacant suite in the Westgate Shopping Center. Firefighters arrived within three minutes. Upon arrival, they discovered severe fire conditions in three suites at the location. Employees and customers were evacuated from one business, while the other businesses continued their normal
operations. There were no injuries.
AFD dispatched four engine companies, an aerial company, a medical unit, two chief’s units, and a fire investigator to the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
