This fun, educational event for all ages will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is FREE TO THE PUBLIC. Old-fashioned games, pony rides, quilting demonstrations, spinning demonstrations, blacksmith presentations, and a barnyard petting zoo will help attendees appreciate life in the early 1900’s. As the largest sawmill west of the Mississippi River, Fullerton was a bustling town and participants at Sawmill Day may take guided tours of the ruins that once were Fullerton. Concessions and crafts are available for purchase.

Join us for Tales Along the Bayou, a Halloween storytelling event for families hosted by Rapides Parish Library at the Kent Plantation House. Ghostly Tales and Ghoulish Fun For All! Bring your own food, blankets, chairs, Chick-Fil-A will be selling tasty treats, free face painting, purchase a glowstick and come in costume!

National Reptile Awareness Day is Sunday October 21st, so we decided to get a head start! Reptiles are a vital part of a healthy environment, with common snakes helping to keep down bugs and rodents that would love to make a nest in your home. Reptile Awareness Day is an excellent opportunity to educate yourself on the wonders of the scaly world, and perhaps learn an appreciation for them. Help us get a jump start.

To market, to market to buy a fat pig... Oh no, it's to gather at the Kent Plantation House for the FALL Herb Day Sale!

A bi-annual event in the community, with vendors peppered throughout the grounds selling an abundance of items. There will be experts on hand to help with herbs and roses. Find a new treasure at the Yard Sale, located in the visitors hall. Mostly, enjoy the camaraderie with friends and neighbors of the community!

Dress up in costume and visit your favorite Rapides Parish Library to enjoy fall crafts, candy and more!

Delve deep into the world of Gatsby when Dr. Lillian Purdy uncovers the truth that lies beyond the glamorous parties, wild jazz music, and popular love affair in "The Great Gatsby". The Cavanaugh Lecture returns this fall with Ashley Weaver. Weaver will be reading from her fifth novel, An Act of Villainy, and discussing the “delicate art of murder,” getting published, and editing.

Weaver’s first mystery novel, Murder at the Brightwell, has been described as “a delicious mystery” and was one of six nominees for an Edgar Awards Best First Novel. Her four other novels include Death Wears a Mask, A Most Novel Revenge, The Essence of Malice, and An Act of Villainy. She has also written a novella, Intrigue in Capri.

Mark your calendars for the FUNKIEST festival in Central Louisiana. The 4th Annual Funktoberfest will be held on October 6, 2018.

This is our 33rd. contest and show. In the last two years we had an average of 360 models on display and about 50 vendor tables.
There will be a food court on site.
Free admission to view the event . For entry fees and forms see our web-site, ipmsswamp. Look under CALMEX
Registration is from 8 AM till 12 PM.
The best time to view the models is between 12 PM and 3 PM.
This event is IPMS, (International Plastic Modeler Society) approved.
