For 23 years, Arna Bontemps African American Museum & Cultural Arts Center (ABAAM) has presented and created cultural programs to bring enrichment, education and entertainment for the literary, performing and visual arts to youth, children, and adult audiences. Each year, ABAAM has presented a free outdoor concert suitable for families of all ages. Attendees come from all over the State of Louisiana and neighboring Mississippi and Texas to experience this dynamic cultural event.
We are pleased to present this year, a tribute to “Women on Key”:
• The Nayo Jones Experience, Nayo’s vocal range has been compared to the likes of Natalie Cole, Nancy Wilson, even Whitney Houston. She has been the opening act for George Benson, Chris Botti and more.
• Leo Cole and the Blue Rockets featuring Lady G, a local favorite in venues around central Louisiana.
• ABAAM’s very own, Bontempian Big Band, a 16-20-piece jazz ensemble comprised of outstanding central Louisiana elementary, junior high, and high school students under the direction of Artist-In-Residence, Mr. William “Bill” Christophe.
