Alexandria, La. (May 19, 2020) — All City of Alexandria office buildings, including the Utility Customer Service building, City Hall, the Public Safety Complex, the Alexandria Zoo, the Animal Shelter and other departments will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
ATRANS bus service, however, will be open during normal operating hours.
The Sanitation Department Memorial Day week schedule will be as follows:
• Monday, May 25 – closed
• Tuesday, May 26 – Monday’s pickup

Alexandria, La. (May 18, 2020) — As part of the Phase 1 reopening plan, The City of Alexandria is now allowing limited public access to the Utility Customer Service Building, located at 625 Murray Street downtown, with safety restrictions in place. Customers seeking to pay their utility bill should continue to use the drive-thru window, dropbox or pay by mail, online or at any First Federal Bank of Louisiana location. (May 18, 2020) — Due to ongoing public health and safety concerns related to minimizing public interaction to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the City of Alexandria will not hold its traditional summer camp activities this year. (May 8, 2020) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced the City of Alexandria has been awarded $300,000 from the EPA’s Brownfields Program to conduct assessments. Alexandria, La. (April 27, 2020) — The City of Alexandria will distribute free cloth face masks while supplies last between 9 a.m. and noon Tuesday at various school sites throughout town. Masks are for City of Alexandria residents and there is a limit of one 5-pack of masks per car.
The masks, which are washable and reusable, will be distributed at Huddle Elementary, Martin Park Elementary, W.O. Hall Elementary, Bolton High School and Nachman Elementary. Masks will be provided via drive-thru service and residents should not exit their vehicle.

Alexandria, La. (April 16, 2020) — The Alexandria City Council gave final approval Tuesday to a 2 percent pay increase for Alexandria Police officers who have not yet reached the rank of corporal.
