About the Artist:
Dr. Katrina L. Cox, a native of Laurel, MS earned her B.M. degree at William Carey University in vocal performance, a Master of Music degree from the State University of New York- Binghamton (Binghamton University), and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The University of Southern Mississippi. She has performed with the Southern Opera and Music Theater as the title role Carmen and Octavian from Der Rosenkavalier in opera scenes and Dame Doleful in the English Comic Opera, Too Many Sopranos. She has been featured as a jazz vocalist for the Partners for the Arts Gala 2019-2020 and the Mississippi Opera Fundraising Gala 2021. Katrina has been a featured artist for the Natchez Festival of Music and Festival South. She also recently appeared in WCU’s production of Suor Angelica as the Principessa, she was also a featured vocalist in the Miss Hospitality Mississippi Pageant 2022 and as their entertainment artist in the summer of 2023. Katrina is an Assistant Professor of Music at William Carey University where she teaches voice-related studies and directs Carpenter’s Wood and Musical Theater.
