Sugarmill Music Festival
Exquisite chamber music has moved from the concert hall into a beautiful pastoral setting, with eight full-length concerts over three days. The Sugarmill Music Festival is small, intimate and unlike anything else in our region. The finest classical musicians from Louisiana and east Texas produce musical magic in the confines of the acoustically warm Sugarmill. These performers represent Northwestern State University, LSU Alexandria, Stephen F. Austin University, Centenary College, Louisiana Tech, UL Monroe, the Rapides Symphony, Shreveport Symphony, Texarkana Symphony, Baroque Artists of Shreveport and more. New this year, visual artists will paint onsite and display their works, including Tony Forrest, Laura Gates, Morgan Lasyone Guidry, Cyndi Menton and others. Cordon Bleu trained Chef Jay Kohler will prepare gourmet meals on site. Drs. Annelle and Martin Tanner will create a beautiful Meditation Labyrinth on the meadow, while historian Sarah Norman Mason provides insight into the Sugarmill and its history. Music scholar Jackson Harmeyer ties it all together with his comprehensive program notes. Our website is www.sugarmillmusic.org where you can learn more and purchase tickets.
