"Inspired by Liturgy"
When was the last time you heard master composers like Hassler, Mozart, Bruckner, Schubert, Faure', and Rutter on the same program?!? On Tuesday evening, March 12, 2019, the Red River Chorale, will present a concert featuring these musicians--and more. Most early composers were inspired to write liturgical works, including music for the service of the mass. "Inspired by Liturgy" will present all of the components of the sung mass, with each movement chosen from the great work of a different major composer. Other related works and selections from various Requiems will be included in the second part of the concert. Won't the Heavens be rejoicing at this glorious collection!
The Red River Chorale is Central Louisiana's only adult auditioned chorus. The 40-voice choral group is directed by Dr. Burt Allen, retired Coordinator of Choral Activities at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. The Chorale is completing their fourteenth concert season.
"Inspired by Liturgy" will be presented on March 12, 2019, at 7:30 P.M. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 430 Jackson Street in downtown Alexandria. A reception will be held afterward in Weems Hall. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $5 for students. They are available from any singer, and from redriverchorale.com, ticket-central.org, Red River Music, and at the door.
