Alexandria, La. (March 4, 2021) — Citing the reduction of COVID-19 cases locally as well as Gov. John Bel Edward’s decision to move to Phase 3 guidelines for public health, the City of Alexandria plans to reopen its community centers and meeting facilities starting Monday, April 5. Alexandria, La. (February 26, 2021) — The City of Alexandria announced creation of a historical marker that will be erected at 819 Lee Street, the site of the Lee Street Riot of 1942. The City of Alexandria started the water testing process required to end the current boil advisory on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Testing can take 24-48 hours or longer. Until then, the current boil advisory remains in place. We are no longer asking residents to limit their water use. Thanks to all residents for their help.
