(October 10, 2020) — Utility Director Michael Marcotte reports power has been substantially restored to all city customers who lost service during Hurricane Delta that are able to receive power. Alexandria, La. (October 10, 2020) — Hurricane Delta swept through Alexandria Friday night with hurricane-force wind gusts and torrential rains that caused significant flooding throughout the city. The National Weather Service in Lake Charles reports radar indicates Alexandria received an average of 8-10 inches of rainfall Thursday and Friday, with the bulk of the rain coming Friday night. (October 7, 2020) — Workers with the City of Alexandria are actively preparing for the possibility of high winds and heavy rain Friday from Hurricane Delta, currently projected to make landfall south of Lafayette midday Friday. The City of Alexandria is carefully monitoring Hurricane Delta, which is projected to impact Louisiana on Friday. Mayor Jeff Hall will be meeting with his emergency planning team Wednesday morning to review the updated storm forecast and the city will announce its plan after that meeting.

(October 6, 2020) — Thanks to a grant award from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the Alexandria Fire Department has a new piece of lifesaving equipment to help protect Alexandria residents. The Alexandria Fire Department received a grant of $29,108.72 to purchase a Polaris 1000 XP Ranger Emergency Medical Service ATV. Alexandria, La. (October 5, 2020) — Contract crews brought in by the City of Alexandria to assist with the collection of debris created by Hurricane Laura have completed their work. As a result, the Sanitation department is returning to normal trash and debris collection procedures effective immediately. Under normal collection conditions, trees and limbs cut by professional tree trimming and removal crews must be removed by the contractor, not left at the curb for pickup by the city. Alexandria, La. (September 24, 2020) — Debris collection crews will be making their final pass through the City of Alexandria next week to collect tree waste and other debris from Hurricane Laura.
