Alexandria, La. (Dec. 17, 2019)— The City of Alexandria has opened Bolton Avenue Community Center as a shelter for residents, according to Alexandria Utility Systems Director Michael Marcotte. (Dec. 12, 2019) — Employees of the Alexandria Coca-Cola Bottling Company donated more than 400 school supplies Thursday to the Alexandria Teen and Youth Center. “One of our core values is to give back to the community,” explained Mark Cowert, Sales Center Manager for the Alexandria Coca-Cola plant. “Over the past month our associates have collected more than 400 items for the Alexandria Teen and Youth Center. (Dec. 11, 2019) — ATRANS, the City of Alexandria’s public transit system, will close its main terminal on Second Street beginning Thursday, Dec. 12, through Saturday, Dec. 14, as streets will be closed for the City’s annual winter festival, AlexWinterFete, which begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec.12, in downtown Alexandria. (Dec. 10, 2019) — Jason Hebert, a Natchitoches native with 28 years of firefighting and EMS experience, has joined the Alexandria Fire Department as the new Director of EMS. “More than 70 percent of the calls our fire department responds to are medical calls,” noted Alexandria Mayor Jeffrey W. Alexandria, La. (Dec. 5, 2019) — A City of Alexandria ATRANS passenger bus was involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of Elliott and Foisy streets Thursday morning. A total of 15 passengers from the bus were taken to local hospitals for treatment as was the driver of the other vehicle involved. Most of the injuries were reported as minor to moderate, but one passenger from the bus had what were described as potentially life-threatening injuries.
