Alexandria, La. (Dec. 18, 2019) — The City of Alexandria Utility Services Department has scheduled a planned power outage from 9 a.m. until noon Thursday, Dec. 19, in the vicinity of Lodi Road. The outage, which will affect approximately 310 customers, is necessary to complete relocation of electric lines related to construction of the roundabout at the intersection of Jackson Street, Horseshoe Drive, Twin Bridges and Lodi roads. Alexandria, La. (Dec. 17, 2019)— The City of Alexandria has opened Bolton Avenue Community Center as a shelter for residents, according to Alexandria Utility Systems Director Michael Marcotte. Alexandria, La. (Dec. 11, 2019) — ATRANS, the City of Alexandria’s public transit system, will close its main terminal on Second Street beginning Thursday, Dec. 12, through Saturday, Dec. 14, as streets will be closed for the City’s annual winter festival, AlexWinterFete, which begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec.12, in downtown Alexandria. Alexandria, La. (Dec. 5, 2019) — A City of Alexandria ATRANS passenger bus was involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of Elliott and Foisy streets Thursday morning. A total of 15 passengers from the bus were taken to local hospitals for treatment as was the driver of the other vehicle involved. Most of the injuries were reported as minor to moderate, but one passenger from the bus had what were described as potentially life-threatening injuries.
