At approximately 10:45 PM, on August 19, 2023, the Alexandria Fire Department was dispatched to the corner of Rapides Avenue and North 13th Streets in reference to a fully involved building fire. At approximately 3:11PM, the Alexandria Fire Department was dispatched to the Madeline Drive in reference to a fully involved commercial building fire. The first unit arrived on the scene within four minutes of the initial alarm time. A second alarm was struck due to temperatures at approximately 99F. AFD dispatched three engine companies, two aerial companies, a medical unit, one district chief, and an investigative unit. (June 29, 2023) — Alexandria Utility System (“AUS”) Water Department crews have continued periodically flushing water mains inside Acadian Village subdivision to address sporadic discolored water complaints following last week’s annual fire hydrant flow testing. As a result, the Teen Center (formerly, the Boys & Girls Club) is being closed for inspection, thorough cleaning, and needed repairs.
